E.A.S.T. & Cinco de Mayo Parade —The planning and organizing committee met April 15th with plenty getting done as a result. The excitement is building. We have floats, schools, ROTC, Hip Hop dance group, Fiesta Committee, and money donated by the Commissioners to pay for the pony rides (now free for kids) plus both food & retail vendors coming. The Chieftain will mention the parade in the next 2 Friday and Sunday”s newspaper. La Voz newspaper is doing an article end of April. The park has been laid out, the music arranged (4 or more bands), tables & chairs donated by St. Leander Church, large signs are being made, floats being designed. Walls being readied for murals. I’d say we have ourselves a successful parade in the works! Anyone wishing an entry or vendor form should come to 816 E 5th (they’re on the fence in a box). Leave the filled in forms in our mail box or on the porch and we’ll make sure we respond to verify your entry. We now have plenty of flyers and will have more posters tomorrow for anyone who wishes to distribute.
