A great week in review

We had a great week here at Pueblo House starting with a few youth arriving who wanted to paint our ugly old boarded up house that we were hoping to make into a media space. Since we don’t have the funds to fix it, we decided we might just as well paint it! And paint it they did when Frances, Destiny, Angelique and Destany gathered up the remaining paint and started created. Thanks to Colorado Recycling & Services for donating paint so we can make the community a little more colorful!

Frances leads the paint project.

Girls painting…look out!

Stan, the man, has been working really hard fixing doors, repairing things and then putting in the dog run so the babies can run from front to back yard now and they have a doggie house to keep them dry.

Patrick and his dad Peter came to help put up the old doors and we now have a beautiful back drop for our stage (donated by Lowe’s).

Monica is working hard keeping the gardens growing and watered. She made Kombucha tea and keeps us hydrated during the open mics. Rose came out and weeded the horseshoe pit and the garden area. Jimi has been helping to keep the grounds watered and weeded. He’s been setting up the stage Tuesdays and Saturdays for our open mic nights too. Both he and Rose are musicians as are Devon Stants, Michael Comora, Rick Black & Tom plus many others.

Travis is helping Tim with MakerSpace and keeping a bunch of enthusiastic kids building, creating and designing some fun things.

Explosion art!

Build it and explode it!

It’s definitely busy here and will be for some time. The radio station KOYC 98.5 FM is doing great. We have plenty of youth, not only on the air, but some running their own shows. Sunday’s with Seth is a big hit. This young man all f 8 yrs old has a knowledge of a 30 yr old and is fun to listen to when he does his show. We met Seth at our Radio Heads summer camp. Frances, Destiny, Angelique and Destiny are doing a “Suicide Prevention and Bullying” show as well. They’re reaching out to others who are feeling alone and depressed with hope to help them through life’s challenges. Our yard community events on Sat. are for kids of all ages and families to enjoy some games, food and music in the yard. Come join us.
