A community coming together

Pueblo House is bringing people together in a community driven, creative style.  Just recently we had three young people join the organization who are thrilled to be part of this “creative zone” on 5th St..   We’re especially proud that in the short time we’ve been operating, we’re already making a difference on the east side.

With plans to bring artists and local musicians together we’re not stopping there.  Our goal is to help those willing to learn, teach or just eager to become part of this community.  We can already see it’s well on its way to materializing.   For months the people on the east side of Pueblo kept telling us there’s been nothing to do here.  They feel most of the city money was pouring into downtown or other locations, with little activity slotted for the east.   However, just recently talks of a world class skate board park are underway and the revitalization of 4th St. so that’s exciting.

We’ll be doing our part by bringing things to do, that are fun and creative for all ages.  We believe that young people should be tapping in to the knowledge of the elders and vice versa.  Kids can help elders with technology and the internet, where elders can offer their wisdom, skill and experience.  We want Pueblo House to be a place where people can feel free to drop in, if only to find solace and peace.  We will encourage the participants to run the sessions themselves as it’s our belief that those who know the needs are best to provide (with guidance if necessary).

A community is about helping each other and bringing in resources from various people so we can make a difference without incurring a lot of expense.  By taking abandoned homes and making them into community space for learning, we hope to give back to the community so it can be stronger, more vibrant area for the locals.
